Before receiving this book for review, I actually came across it in my local Target store on Black Friday. In the madness of that day my shopping partner, who happens to be one of my very best friends had actually picked it off the shelf of HUNDREDS of books and started reading it.

"I'm gonna stand here in the middle of Target and start crying" she said.

"Hey! I'm supposed to receive that book to review!" I told her.

We both took a few moments out of the Black Friday insanity to read through the entire book... and wiped tears away as we did.

She and I have been friends since WE were little, and we had children within 19 days of each other who are now best buddies. If I Could Keep You Little touched both of our hearts with its honest words and beautiful illustrations. This book is relatable for any parent who struggles with their children growing up too fast.

I would definitely recommend this amazing book as a wonderful gift idea that will be a treasured keepsake for your child. I plan on getting two more copies so that I can write a special note in them to each of my growing boys. That way when they are all grown and have children of their own, they can look back at their own copy of If I Could Keep You Little and see how much their mommy loves them, as they  relate to the feelings as a parent themselves.

BGGG- Learning Resources- Sky High Scoops-Review and Giveaway

My youngest son loves to watch his brothers and I play board games. At only 3 years old, there isn't a whole lot of games that he can play. Recently I found an amazing game that my little guy LOVES to play that is also educational and fun for the whole family!

Sky High Scoops is a colorful count and stack game for up to 3 players. Its recommended for ages 3 and up.

Included with the game is your Talking ice cream dish which is your playing board, and 16 colorful ice cream scoops, and a whipped topping with cherry to top your sundae. There are no small parts with this game that could present choking hazard.

The talking ice cream dish takes 3 AA Batteries for play (not included). To play the game, the players have to listen to the directions told by the voice that comes from the sundae dish. This tells you which color to stack, how many to stack, how many to take off. When the game starts, the ice cream scoops are evenly divided between all players, and the idea of the game is to get rid of all of your ice cream first and place the whipped topping on the stack. If the stack gets to high or unbalanced and the ice cream falls on your turn, then you have to take back all of the ice cream.

The directions to the game are easy to follow and understand. My youngest son will be turning 3 in just a few days, and he understands most of the concepts of the game. My older boys love playing Sky High Scoops just as much as he does!

I love that Sky High Scoops encourages listening skills, following directions, fine motor skills and also learning colors. It also encourages counting skills as your little guy or girl listens to the number of scoops they are supposed to place on the dish. I also love that its a game that my whole family can play together!

I've also seen Sky High Scoops at my local Target store.

I would definitely recommend Sky High Scoops as a great gift idea for any child ages 3-6, and older siblings are likely to enjoy playing along just as much as the little kids! Sky High Scoops is a fun game for the whole family that also teaches many valuable skills that your little one can benefit from!

Seventh Generation Laundry Products- NO OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS- Giveaway

I recently became aware of another interesting fact about Seventh Generation Laundry Products. Seventh Generation Laundry Products contain NO Optical Brighteners.

What are Optical Brighteners?

According to scientific research, these can cause allergic reactions, are toxic to small fish and other aquatic life, and can pollute your waterways.

When ultraviolet light hits optical brighteners coating your clothing, the brighteners convert UV rays into visible light to create an optical illusion. This tricks the eye into thinking the clothing is whiter and brighter, and therefore cleaner than it really is.

So how can you avoid these optical brighteners? Seventh Generation makes it easy because their laundry detergents are not only free of optical brighteners, but they’re also non-toxic . Thanks to Seventh Generation and MyBlogSpark, I was able to do an at home experiment comparing my other everday detergent and Seventh Generations products.  They sent me a black light, two identical organic cotton tshirts and the Seventh Generation line of Laundry Products. One tshirt was to be washed with my regular detergent, the other was to be washed in my Seventh Generation detergent. While my pictures didn't come out very well, I will show the results that you get from this experiment.

 

 
As you can see above, the tshirt washed in regular laundry detergent glows in the black light because of the optical brighteners, while the tshirt washed in Seventh Generation laundry detergent does not glow.
 

Quite interesting results!

 

All the harmful chemicals that we come in contact with on a day to day basis... do we really need a chemical that makes something "appear" to be brighter and cleaner? I think I  would you rather have the clean, chemical free shirt!
